First Descents

December 06, 2011

As owners of the purple watch, you are now supporting First Descents!

Last year, 70,00 young adults in the U.S. were diagnosed with cancer. Did you know that?

First Descents provides young adults (ages 18-39) who have beaten cancer or who are still fighting with a free week long excursion into the outdoors. Whether it's climbing, surfing or paddling, participants get to defy their cancer and connect with others who are doing the same. To learn more about how the program got started, and what it entails click here!

In these week long excursions, participants are forced to face their fears and take risks. In doing so, they can regain the confidence they might have lost due to the tumultuous battle against cancer.

There are no forced group therapy sessions, or one on one counseling. It is the the hope of the leaders of the excursions that the participants will start their own conversations so that the healing can begin to start naturally and organically.

The best part about First Descents is that these week long excursions are offered regardless of the participant's financial means. In 2011 alone, they hosted 27 week long programs in 7 different states! It is the plan for 2012 to host over 40 camps in 10 different states!

How We Give

Each color represents a different cause that we donate 10% to. That means 10% of your entire purchase is donated. If your watch is $50, we immediately donate $5 to the cause on your behalf.

In addition, we're giving back another $5 to the Printed Village designer that created your watch. Your purchase is more powerful than you think and we are forever grateful. Together, we have the power to change lives every day.
