WHO: The American Parkinson's Disease Association was founded in 1961 to help ease the burden and to find a cure for Parkinson's disease. Every year, APDA helps contribute to parkinson's related research with donating more than $2.5 million. They also contribute about $2 million for direct patient and caregiver support.
WHAT: Parkinson's disease is a disorder of the brain that leads to shaking and difficulty in walking, movement, and coordination. It is diagnosed in more than 50000 Americans each year. In getting involved with APDA, you can help someone in need.
WHERE: APDA has chapters all over the country. No chapter is the same. If you would like to get involved, go to the APDA website, and click find a chapter in your area.
November is National Family Caregiver Month!
There are currently 65 million americans who are caring for a family member or loved one. Now is the time to recognize their efforts. Lots a helping hands is a service of the APDA that helps to create a community to assist a family caregiver. Check it out! Ease the Burden.
